This past weekend, Sensei Huffman and I travelled to Palm Bay Florida to watch the Seibukan Dojo's annual Tai Kai! Since I've only practiced Toyama-ryu Iaido so far, it was very interesting to see a different style in practice. Their dojo had at least 50 students ranging from below 1st degree black belt up to above 4th degree black belt and they were all very skilled! We also got to watch them do Batto and cut tatami mats - which was a first for me. (I'd only ever seen it done in videos and not live.) It made me want to do cutting as soon as I'm able. Thanks to the Seibukan Dojo for letting us spectate on their tournament, and thanks to Sensei Huffman for driving us! I look forward to visiting them again! He's a fantastic teacher with decades of rigorous experience. Experienced and beginner classes are both available. I feel absolutely spoiled learning from him. Classes are very affordable and can be paid with FitOn credits. There are also free classes available on Thursday evenings. He's patient, dedicated, and kind. You owe it to yourself to try a class. You'll learn a lot very quickly.
